News and Homework 8/15/11

We're off to another great start to the week!  Today, students are bringing home some information on 2 events at our school.  The first is the Ned Show, which is an inspiring and fun encouraging word for our age group.  If your child was here last year, you probably heard about Ned and his yo-yos.  The yo-yos will be available for purchase, but there is no obligation.  The form sent home today tells you how to order.

The second event is our first fund-raiser. We are raising funds for new playground equipment by selling the coupon books.  Each book is $20, but contains over $3,000 in savings! A book, order form, and information sheet was sent home with each student.  The coupon book is for preview only and needs to be returned to the school unless you buy it.  Students who sell 5 coupon books will get the coupon book free! This week we are working on DIBELS and handwriting skills.  We will not have a spelling list (or test) until later (beginning the week of Aug. 29). However, we do have homework!

Homework for 8/15/11

• Math: Worksheet P2 (Using doubles strategies to find sums)
• Reading:  Read for 15 minutes
• Remember that book orders are due Friday!
